Update on the Soccer Priest

Earlier in the semester I made a post about Chase Hilgenbrinck, a professional soccer player who had retired at 26 to enter the seminary. More recently a friend showed me an article about this from ESPN that is very good and very in depth about his life. There is also a very good video.

Here is the article and video.

Professional Soccer Player Enters the Priesthood

This news is from this summer, but it is too good not to share it. This summer 26-year-old Chase Hilgenbrinck, captain of Major League Soccer's New England Revolution, announced his retirement from professional soccer. His reason: God was calling him to the priesthood.

You can read the whole article here, but here is a good pull quote:

"It's not that I'm ready to leave soccer. I wouldn't leave the game for just any other job. I'm moving on for the Lord. I want to do the will of the Lord, I want to do what he wants for me, not what I want to do for myself."
