There seems to have been a lot going on this week, so I got a bit behind. I have caught up now.

Advent Meditation

Each day in class I include an Advent meditation on the journey of the Magi, and I thought I would begin sharing that here each day. Each day includes a quote from Pope Benedict XVI and a reflection on that quote that I wrote.

“Like the Magi, all believers – young people in particular – have been called to set out on a journey of life in search of truth, justice, and love. The ultimate goal of the journey can only be found through an encounter with Christ.”

Advent is a journey. As with Magi, the more days that pass, the closer we come to Christ. Advent is a time to prepare yourself to meet Christ. As families and loved ones get together for the holidays, they get their homes and lives in order. Is your life in order? Are you ready to meet Jesus?

Bad Link

I just realized today the link that I place at the top of each daily summary that reads "Today's Feast Days" was taking you to the wrong place. So if you have tried to get to the current day on the calendar of saints and instead got August 26th, I apologize.

Browser problems

I have noticed that when I try to access and use the blog using Internet Explorer I have some problems. It often will not let you click on links and sometimes freezes. Also one parent has been getting error messages when trying to use some of the links. This may be part of the same problem. If you use Internet Explorer and are having some trouble with this blog, I recommend trying a different browser. I have the links you need to download them below. I am a Firefox fan actually, but I prefer both of the browsers below to Explorer anyway.

Of interest to parents

The students in my 8th and 9th grade Religious Studies classes, have an assignment in which they are to reflect on how the mission statement of Subiaco Academy affects them. They are to post their answers on this blog. You can read them here.

For those of you whose sons board at Subiaco, I am sure that you do not get to see much of the work that they do. I thought you might appreciate this chance to get to see their thoughts.

Comments are working!

The comments section, which was getting blocked by the internet provider on the Subiaco network, has been fixed. Remember, the first person from each of my classes to post a comment will earn some bonus points. So far only one section has had someone post.

Welcome to my blog!

This blog will be used to keep students (and parents) up-to-date on what is going on in my classes when they are away from the class. Each day I will post a summary of what we accomplished in class, a list of assignments, and links to any handouts.

To start the year, I would like you all to visit this site and take a look around. To motivate you to do so, the first person from each of my classes to leave a comment about something they like or dislike about the site, will get bonus points. At the moment the comments section is not working correctly, but as soon as it is, just click on the link at the bottom of this post.

Internet Explorer Problems

I have recently been informed, and have noticed myself, that this blog is causing Internet Explorer to freeze. I have had this happen on several different computers, but have had no trouble with Firefox. If you use Explorer and have been having this problem, try downloading and using Firefox. It is free to download and works great. I don't know what is causing the problem. I will try to contact Blogger about it.
